CBT: Cognitive Behavioural Therapy
Changing the way we think, feel or behave
CBT is a psychological therapy that explores the links between how we think, feel (physically and emotionally) and behave. It is when we explore how each is influencing the other areas that we can make changes that will improve our wellbeing.
CBT is classed as a talking therapy, but it is also a doing therapy. You may be asked to think about things differently, but also to make  some changes  to how you behave.
We may also work on how we physically respond to our feelings or situations. This process is a collaborative way to help improve mood and wellbeing.

Choosing a therapist

Finding the right therapist can be daunting but is key to a successful therapy.. The therapists listed on this site have undergone thorough training and are accredited with a professional body. This means that you have reassurance that they will maintain the highest possible standards and are accountable for the therapy they provide. This does not mean that you may be comfortable in progressing with your therapist (we are all human and different).
Prior to entering into any agreement, you will speak with the therapist and if you feel you may find it difficult to work with the therapist PLEASE say so. It is important to us that we can help and if directing you to someone who can help you is our way to help, then that is helping.
Important to make clear: You may be able to receive counselling or CBT through  the NHS in England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.
